I’m a landscape photographer who has been exploring and photographing Dartmoor for over 10 years. Over that time, I’ve built a close connection with the landscape and its changing conditions, returning to familiar places and gradually developing a body of work that reflects how the moor really feels.
I also work as a photography tutor and location guide, helping others discover Dartmoor’s remarkable landscapes and develop confident, thoughtful compositions.
Alongside my photography, I share the stories behind my images through writing and video, including the Discovering Dartmoor series on my blog and YouTube channel.
I was fortunate to spend much of my life in Scotland, surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery in the UK. Growing up in the Highlands, and later spending time hillwalking and cycling, helped shape a strong connection with the outdoors that has stayed with me ever since.
It wasn’t until I moved to Devon and bought my first digital SLR camera that photography became more than a hobby. Spending time exploring my local landscape made me realise just how inspiring it could be, and how photography had the power to share that sense of awe with others. Not long after, I decided to focus my attention on landscape photography.
These days, you’ll usually find me wandering Dartmoor or exploring the Cornish coast, with occasional trips back to the Scottish Highlands. I’m drawn to dramatic landscapes and changing conditions, and I enjoy telling the stories behind the places I photograph. That often means early starts and long days, but with a camera, a flask of coffee, and a sense of adventure, there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
My approach to photography is fairly traditional. Much of my work is influenced by Dartmoor’s open spaces and moorland, and while I enjoy strong contrast and colour, I keep my image editing restrained. I want my photographs to feel exciting, but genuine. Above all, I hope they inspire others to explore and connect with the outdoors for themselves.
