Baxter Dury and Joshua Idehen at Bristol O2 Academy - 23/11/2025
Captivating
Earlier this year I photographed Primal Scream at the Bristol Beacon. It was a great gig to photograph, and Primal Scream were a joy to photograph as usual. But something unusual happened at that gig. I was blown away by the support act. Someone I’d never heard off. Mr Baxter Jury! He came onto that stage and dominated it with a commanding performance. Rather than capture photographs for the first couple of songs and then wander off to process a couple of them, I stayed for his entire performance.
When I heard, he was returning to Bristol and was headlining at the O2 Academy Bristol, I was straight on to the phone to the editor at MusoMuso suggesting we cover it! A few months later we are making the long drive to Bristol in the dark to photograph what was sure to be an amazing gig. A bit of a plot spoiler here, it was!
