Baxter Dury and Joshua Idehen at Bristol O2 Academy - 23/11/2025
Captivating
Earlier this year I photographed Primal Scream at the Bristol Beacon. It was a great gig to photograph, and Primal Scream were a joy to photograph as usual. But something unusual happened at that gig. I was blown away by the support act. Someone I’d never heard off. Mr Baxter Jury! He came onto that stage and dominated it with a commanding performance. Rather than capture photographs for the first couple of songs and then wander off to process a couple of them, I stayed for his entire performance.
When I heard, he was returning to Bristol and was headlining at the O2 Academy Bristol, I was straight on to the phone to the editor at MusoMuso suggesting we cover it! A few months later we are making the long drive to Bristol in the dark to photograph what was sure to be an amazing gig. A bit of a plot spoiler here, it was! You can read the review here, but here are my photos from the gig. Enjoy!

Primal Scream, Baxter Dury and Mozart Estate at Bristol Beacon - 31/03/2025
After photographing Primal Scream in 2023 there was no chance I was going to miss an opportunity to photograph them again in Bristol.
I first photographed Primal Scream in 2023 and not only were they a great live band to listen to, but they were brilliant to photograph. So when I heard that they playing at the Bristol Beacon I knew I'd want to photograph them again. As the date of the gig approached though, my car started running roughly and my confidence on making a successful return car journey to Bristol wasn't high!
But there was no way I was going to miss this gig so I decided to get the train through to Bristol. The journey to Bristol was fine, but let's not talk about the journey home. All I will say is that it took a very long time!
The following morning as I processed the photos and saw what I had captured I forgot about all my travel woes from the previous night. Not only did the photographs make it worth the effort, but also the joy of discovering artists like Baxter Dury for the first time (who was also fantastic to photograph).
It wasn't just the photos that made the journey worth it. Every now and again you discover a new band or artists that you haven't heard before but you connect with. I thought Baxter Dury was excellent and I'll be keeping an eye his tour schedule to see if I get another opportunity to photograph him.
Here's the photos from my Monday night adventure to the Bristol Beacon. Enjoy!
